Climate Change and Global Security: Framing an Existential Threat

Should the climate change crisis be framed in security terms? Many argue that it is dangerous to treat non-military threats as issues. Such “securitization” associated with expansion of executive power and exercise exceptional measures involving suspension individual rights, secrecy, state violence, a weakening rule law. Nonetheless, has already been identified issue by many government agencies international institutions. 1 But, J.
